SWEET
I love to laugh, and I did, so I guess that’s all that matters, even when (I can’t help myself) I am pushed beyond the point where I have trouble suspending my sense of disbelief. This play is not for the pretentious, urban, sophisticate crowd. (I am often guilty of being one of those loathsome creatures.) It is mostly gentle, mostly prepossessing and the audience tonight enjoyed it a great deal.
Geoff Hoff – LA Theatre Review
SWEET
You won’t want to miss the fun of this third trip to Bunyan County, Minnesota, at the Lonny Chapman Group Repertory Theatre in North Hollywood. With A Don’t Hug Me County Affair, chalk up another successful production for the very talented Phil Olson (playwright) and his brother Paul Olson, MD (composer, a.k.a. Bear) and the delightful, charming and hilarious cast.
Carol Kaufman Segal – Stagehappenings
SWEET
As always in the Olson brothers’ sagas, the pace is swift, the visuals are a scream and the story is sillier than silly! You’ll laugh till your cheeks hurt!
Pat Taylor – Tolucan Times
SWEET
This crowd-pleasing cornball musical, by Phil and Paul Olsen, suggests a home-town talent show combined with a sort of Minnesota Folk Play, full of bad jokes, and set in a bar called The Bunyan, on the first day of the Bunyan County Fair.
